New Ambulatory Procedures Unit and Clinics

Welcoming outpatient areas
Today, the majority of surgical procedures take place without the need for an overnight stay. The hospital’s new wing will have an entire floor dedicated to outpatient care, from clinics to day surgery, from endoscopies to minor procedures.

This unit will improve patient care by reducing waits for these services, and, at the same time, ensure the operating rooms are available for more complex surgeries.
The new 30,000 square foot outpatient zone, located on the lower level, below the emergency department, will more than double the current combined size of the hospital’s outpatient facilities.

With ground-level access, a view of the lower courtyard and plenty of natural light, this patient-centred unit features:

  • Ten fully equipped procedure/operating rooms to support minimally invasive surgeries
  • Pre- and post-op preparation and recovery areas
  • A laboratory
  • Dedicated clinic spaces, including cardiac and fracture clinics
  • Two flexible-use, 12-room pods

The unit is designed to support close to 60,000 outpatient clinic visits annually, meaning greater access to outpatient care, close to home, for the community.
