How the System Works

Three hospitals, working together to achieve one goal
You – who live and work in Brampton, Caledon, North Mississauga, Etobicoke and the surrounding region – are part of one of the fastest-growing and most ethnically-diverse regions of Canada. A region which also has one of the highest rates of chronic disease in the province. Every year, more patients come to Brampton Civic, Etobicoke General and Peel Memorial. We need to find a patient-focused, cost-effective way to increase our capacity and ensure you get the care you need. At William Osler Health System (Osler), we’ve been working hard to do just that.

The care you need, where and when you need it
Through innovative thinking and careful planning, Osler has developed inpatient and outpatient services, bold partnerships with community care providers, and an increased emphasis on maintaining wellness. The strengths and capacities of Osler’s three hospitals will complement each other, so that together they will provide seamless access to all the care most residents will ever need to stay healthy and well.

Need emergency care, surgery, or treatment that involves a hospital stay? Brampton Civic and Etobicoke General have the services, expertise and facilities to provide you with exemplary care.

Need medical attention for something less serious? Peel Memorial’s Urgent Care Centre is an excellent, convenient alternative. The focus here is be on prevention and wellness - helping you make healthy lifestyle choices so you can avoid emergency room visits and hospital stays.

Peel Memorial’s increased capacity to provide outpatient care and supports means that Brampton Civic and Etobicoke General Hospitals will be able to serve a greater number of seriously ill patients. Because Brampton Civic, Etobicoke General, and Peel Memorial are all part of Osler, patients who move between the facilities will enjoy a smooth, seamless transition. All three facilities will have access to each patient’s health record, so all health care providers will have the most up-to-date diagnostic and treatment information at their fingertips.

Osler is poised at a historic moment of change that will define health care for generations to come. And you have the power to make it happen.
